About Me

I'm the mother of 3 great kids, 1 girl and 2 boys. I have a husband I adore and I'm pretty sure feels the same way about me. We spend our vacation each year at the beach. Otherwise we are just your average boring family, and I wouldn't want it any other way. I have worked at the same company since 1987 in various positions and have enjoyed some more than others.

When did I start baking?
I have baked since I was a teenager. I won the most likely to be Betty Crocker award my senior year of high school.  But I really got my start in college.  I went to college and got my associates degree in pastry chef apprenticeship and was certified through the state of Pennsylvania as a pastry chef.

Do I bake full time?
No, but I decorate cakes full time. I have been cake decorating since I was about 15 years old. I worked in management from the ages of 19 to 46, some of that time was managing a bakery department before I moved up the ranks. Then as fate would have it, my company needed a decorator in my store and I was the only one who knew how to do it. So I went back to the bakery full time and I decorate five days a week now. Sprinkle Snob Cookie & Cake Co. is a new venture for me. I have always done cakes for family and friends. In October of 2019, I started trying my hand at cookies and everyone was so impressed by Christmas time that I thought why not give it a go and try this out as a side gig.

Where do I bake your treats?
I bake them in my home, a tiny kitchen but used effectively I accomplish alot in there.

Am I professionally trained?
This is a tough one. While I did go to school for pastry chef there was no decorating classes or anything that covered those areas which are a bulk of what I do, and the part I am proudest of. At my current job I was taught to decorate cakes, in 1988 (yes I'm old), by a fellow employee and the rest is history.  I have been food safety certified from my current employer and have been since 2001, so don't worry, I make your desserts utilizing all my knowledge of food safety for the last 33years I have worked in the food business.

What are my biggest accomplishments as a baker/decorator?
I made two cakes for the Phillie Phanatics Birthday. If you don't know who that is, Google him, he's quite the character. He is the mascot for the Philadelphia Phillies MLB team, and one of the most popular mascots in sports.  In 2018, the cake was taken to Nemours Children's Hospital, where they held a birthday party for the Phanatic and the patients were able to attend. My cake was on the local news and seeing all those happy kids, I was so grateful and happy to have been part of such a wonderful event. Then in 2019, I made the cake they presented to him at his birthday party on game day. As super exciting as it was to have a cake I made on the baseball diamond for an MLB team nothing prepared me for the opportunity that was about to come my way....I was asked to  make a cake for Billy Joel, yes the Billy Joel, the Piano Man. Citizens Bank Park (where the Phillies play baseball) called and asked if I would make Billy Joels 70th Birthday cake. They surprised him before his concert with a birthday party and a 5 foot paino cake. Having the pictures of someone famous standing behind a cake you made for them, crazy!! Check out my Instagram (or My Creations!) page for pictures of these cakes.
